Le preposizioni sono fondamentali per articolare il discorso in qualsiasi lingua. Sono anche uno degli argomenti più difficili da padroneggiare, poiché ci sono molte preposizioni, di vari tipi, e non tutte seguono le stesse regole.

Che cosa sono le preposizioni

Una preposizione è una parola che indica la relazione tra un nome e un'altra parola all'interno di una frase. Ad esempio:

I’m at home ➡️ Sono a casa. 
We’ll be there between seven and half past seven ➡️ Saremo lì tra le sette e le sette e mezza.

Come vedi, le preposizioni mostrano la relazione tra le parole tra cui sono collocate. Se dico di essere "a casa", la preposizione "a" indica che sono dentro casa; non fuori, vicino o lontano da casa. Pertanto, spiega la relazione che c'è tra la casa e me. Senza la preposizione, non si comprenderebbe tale relazione.

Tipi di preposizioni

Esistono vari tipi di preposizioni. Le preposizioni di luogo, di tempo e di movimento sono le più comuni, ma non sono le uniche esistenti. Non c'è un consenso assoluto su quanti tipi di preposizioni ci siano, ma di solito se ne identificano otto tipi. Diamo loro un'occhiata veloce.
