COS'È il discorso INDIRETTO O IL REPORTED SPEECH

Quando vogliamo spiegare ciò che un'altra persona ha detto, possiamo farlo in due modi: utilizzando lo stile diretto o utilizzando lo stile indiretto (reported speech). Lo stile diretto consiste nel ripetere le parole di quella persona così come sono, una per una; lo stile indiretto consiste nell'esporre ciò che quella persona ha detto, ma senza utilizzare le parole esatte che quella persona ha pronunciato."

Come puoi vedere, lo stile diretto è piuttosto semplice da utilizzare; devi solamente ripetere le parole esatte che l'altra persona ha espresso. Lo stile indiretto, invece, è un po' più complicato: dobbiamo cambiare il tempo verbale, proprio come in italiano. Ciò implica che hai bisogno di avere una buona padronanza dei tempi verbali in inglese per utilizzare il discorso riportato. Osserva questi esempi.
